Endorphins are chemicals produced naturally by the nervous system to cope with pain or stress. They are often called “feel-good” chemicals because they can act as a pain reliever and happiness booster.
One of the chemicals produced during exercise is Dopamine. This is a neurotransmitter in the brain that is necessary for feelings of happiness and luckily for us, exercise is one of the best ways to increase our brains production of it. But as we get older, these dopamine stores start to decrease, which is why Seáinín has to exercise a little more often than Mick When we exercise, we feel more energised. We build confidence and we release stress and tension, which are all so important in leading a happy, healthy lifestyle.
