Hydration

Not too many get excited about this topic but it’s important, nonetheless.

We’re probably all guilty of lacking good hydration, at least when it comes to water intake.

Luckily, hydration is covered by all fluids we consume but when it comes to health, water is the best choice we can go for.

It plays such a huge role in our body for health and performance, but it is one of the most underestimated tools that we tend to overlook when we want to improve something in our general lifestyle and/or sports....Aside from sleep 

Staying adequately hydrated will help your body:
  • to regulate body temperature
  • keep joints lubricated
  • support strong immunity
  • to transport nutrients to cells
  • support cognitive function

As temperatures rise, as we approach our version of a summer, it is important to know that your body will most likely sweat a little more than normal to help keep your body cooler. This is particularly the case for those of us who are playing sports or doing other activities such as training in the gym.
Replacing this water loss will be important for your overall wellbeing and recovery, so levelling up your hydration is key! 

Here are some tips to help you hydrate:
  • Carry a water bottle with you
  • If you don't like the taste of plain water, try adding a slice of lemon or lime to your drink.
  • Ensure you are well hydrated before your work out and try to get fluids onboard as soon as you can after you’re done.In many cases, any sweating done during a short to mid length workout will be covered by this level of fluid intake.
  • Monitor the colour of your urine – the clearer the better!
  • Count all fluids but try to have a greater ratio of water
  • Drink a glass of water before you drink your morning cuppa

And remember, if anyone needs a lovely cold bottle of water, we sell them for a £1! :-)
